MoneyGram has always been one of the top financial services companies to embrace cryptocurrency, and this new in-app functionality is one of many significant crypto-centric developments at the company.

In its news release, MoneyGram announced the launch of a new cryptocurrency functionality that will allow users of its mobile app to buy, sell and hold cryptocurrencies including Bitcoin, Ethereum and Litecoin.

As the cryptocurrency sector expands internationally, the recently launched service exposes users to several popular cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin (BTC), Litecoin (LTC) and Ethereum (ETH) by allowing users to invest in these securities.

Customers will be able to use the service in most US states and Washington DC.

Speaking about the growth, Alex Holmes, President and CEO of MoneyGram said:

Cryptocurrencies are in addition to everything we do at MoneyGram… MoneyGram offers instant access to over 120 currencies worldwide, and we see cryptocurrencies and cryptocurrencies as another I/O option.

Expand options:

In an effort to provide several options to its customers interested in cryptocurrency, MoneyGram has recently become actively involved in the cryptocurrency industry.

The largest P2P money transfer company announced the rollout of its state-of-the-art crypto-to-money solution in June 2022 with Stellar support.

Last year, MoneyGram and Coinme, a cryptocurrency trading platform, teamed up to offer bitcoin to customers through the MoneyGram retail website.

Therefore, MoneyGram’s new investment function is now supported by Coinme.

Since its founding in 1980, MoneyGram has served more than 10 million users worldwide and is dedicated to providing users with easy and fast money transfer services.

MoneyGram’s expansion target to include this asset class came in light of growing demand for cryptocurrencies.
